Duties & Qualifications:

The National Interest is looking for an assistant editor for its print edition, which publishes essays and book reviews on foreign affairs and history. This demanding but rewarding position requires excellent editing skills, communication with leading academics and journalists, and the ability to research potential topics and select appropriate art. Staff should also contribute to the magazine's online blog. An interest in international affairs and an affinity for the magazine's realist outlook are desirable. Related experience in journalism and familiarity with tools used in web production (basic HTML/Drupal, Photoshop, SEO) will stand out on an application.
