Job Opening at The Nixon Center
The Nixon Center seeks a flexible, well-organized, proactive, and result-oriented individual to serve as assistant director. While the position is predominantly focused on management and administration, it also provides a significant opportunity for independent substantive work, including writing and program development.
Responsibilities include serving as deputy to the executive director, managing support staff and overall office operations, media relations, overseeing meetings program and web site, and other duties. The position also includes opportunities for independent research and writing on foreign policy topics.
A hands-on leadership style and the ability to handle several projects simultaneously are essential for success in this busy small office. MA in International Relations or a related field required; strong writing and editing skills also essential.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3-4 years of experience in key institutions in the policy community, e.g. think tanks, media, legislative staff, lobbying/public relations firms, or similar organizations and experience supervising interns or administrative staff.
