The National Interest is pleased to announce that Justine Rosenthal will be joining the magazine as its executive editor in June 2007.

Rosenthal is currently Director of the Atlantic Monthly Foundation. In the past, she served as Research Fellow in Foreign Policy Studies at the Brookings Institution, Director of the Executive Office at the Council on Foreign Relations, and Special Assistant to Treasury Secretary Robert E. Rubin.

"Justine will be an invaluable member of the senior editorial staff at the magazine", says Nikolas Gvosdev, editor of The National Interest. "Her background, experience and intellectual depth will all contribute to maintaining and deepening our commitment to producing a cutting-edge, provocative journal, particularly by bringing the perspective of a new generation on the great issues of our time."

Les Gelb, president emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, and member of the Board of Directors of The Nixon Center, which publishes The National Interest, observed, "Dr. Rosenthal's instinct for the verbal and intellectual jugular will further enliven and deepen the value of The National Interest. Lazy foreign policy writers beware!"

Rosenthal received her BA in political science and public policy from the University of Chicago and her MA and PhD degrees in political science from Columbia University. While at Columbia, she was awarded Einstein and Presidential fellowships. She was also a Luce Scholar and in that capacity taught courses in international relations at the College of Foreign Affairs in Beijing, China.
