The Kosovo issue is far from resolved, and acceptance and imposition of the Settlement Plan by the Security Council could lead to renewed violence and instability, and have repercussions far beyond the Western Balkans.
It is odd that so many Democrats who argued we never had a “real debate” over Iraq now insist that no such process is required for Kosovo. Ambassador Richard Holbrooke is leading their charge.
Success in the Balkans depends on independence for Kosovo. The moment to achieve this end has come, now the United States must act.
