Can Ukraine Shed Its Soviet Skin?

A chance to move closer to the European Union—or slide back toward Russia—could be an inflection point in Ukrainian history.

Shedding the Soviet skin is a long and painful process, and in many cases what is revealed underneath may not be any better than what was before.
