The willingness of the press to circulate any account that puts Russia in a bad light has not diminished with the collapse of the Russia-Trump collusion narrative.

Ted Galen Carpenter, a senior fellow in security studies at the Cato Institute and a contributing editor at the National Interest, is the author of twelve books and more than 850 articles on international affairs. His 1995 book, The Captive Press: Foreign Policy Crises and the First Amendment, received the “Outstanding Academic Book” designation from the College Division of the American Library Association.
