Rebuilding American Foreign Policy

The next president must pick up the pieces of the failed Obama doctrine.

Finally, we need to begin an honest debate among the people of the United States as to the nature of the modern threat to our lives and liberties. If the American people are fully informed about the “twilight struggle” ahead they will face these dangers responsibly, without overreaction, in a manner that will not empower feckless politicians to diminish our God-given rights.

Winston Churchill once said, "You can always count on Americans to do the right thing -- after they've tried everything else." We’ve been in the “everything else” stage for far too long. It’s time we tried to do the right things for ourselves, our allies and in regard to our enemies.

Jim Gilmore served as the 68th Governor of Virginia from 1998-2002.  Gov. Gilmore currently serves as President & CEO of the Free Congress Foundation.  From 1999-2003, he chaired the Congressional Advisory Panel to Assess Domestic Capabilities for Terrorism Involving Weapons of Mass Destruction. He also served as Chairman of the Republican National Committee from 2001-02.
