As for the U.S. media, some outlets, like the New York Times, have focused on Russian influence on the American arts scene. Then there is the venerated NPR, which appears to imply in a recent investigation that Tchaikovsky’s 1812 overture should actually be avoided on American Independence Day. Maybe congressional lawmakers could find time to focus on this important patriotic (albeit rather McCarthyist) cultural cleansing initiative before next summer?
