U.S. policy right now--its foreign policy and its domestic policy--is deservedly a laughing stock to Islamists. We and our NATO allies--about half the world--are not laughing. Indeed, our absurd national circumstance has become reduced to those prescient words of bumper-sticker fame: "Keep smiling, the boss loves idiots." But God may not always favor fools and the United States.
