At CES, TCL Debuts Newest Line of TVs
The company is pitching the big TVs as a way to enjoy Hollywood movies that are released to the home market quickly.
In a briefing at International CES Tuesday morning, TCL unveiled its latest TVs, including the newest models in the XL series of large, QLED-powered TVs.
The XL Collection debuted in 2021, and this year’s edition features TVs 80 inches and larger. The largest is a 98-inch QLED model, which is available now.
The company is pitching the big TVs as a way to enjoy Hollywood movies that are released to the home market quickly.
“As TCL continues to drive into increasingly larger screen sizes with its advanced panel production facilities, the TCL team must ensure that we’re delivering world-class products with the performance levels that our users truly want in their family room. In fact, here in North America, TVs 60” and larger were one-quarter of all TVs sold in 2021 and those big screens were just over half of all TV sales revenue last year,” Chris Larson, Senior Vice President, TCL North America, said in the company’s announcement.
The company also announced the third generation of its mini-LED TV lines, also in its XL collection, an 85-inch 8K QLED TV, called the X925pro. The company did not announce pricing and availability for its TV line as of yet.
TCL also made clear that it will continue to release TVs with both the Roku TV and Google TV operating systems. The company, which had used the Roku TV interface on most of its TVs for many years and used that partnership to gain a major foothold in the U.S. TV market, released its Google TV models as an exclusive with Best Buy in the U.S. last fall, and while the TVs were pulled for shelves for a time in late 2021 due to a series of reported bugs, they have since returned.
Beyond TVs, TCL has announced a pair of 5G smartphones, the TCL 30 XE 5G and 30 V 5G, which will come exclusively to the United States in the coming weeks. The company will debut laptops, including the new TCL NXTPAPER 10s, as well as the first TCL laptop, the TCL BOOK 14 Go. And the company will debut new wearable display glasses, with the TCL NXTWEAR AIR.
TCL will also debut four new soundbars, as part of its Alto lineup, as well as such home products as Breeva Smart Air Purifiers.
The company also announced Tuesday that its new slogan is “Inspire Greatness.”
While many major manufacturers have dropped out of in-person participation in CES, TCL is in Las Vegas, and its booth can be found at booth #17017 in Central Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
