Senator Marsha Blackburn: ‘President Xi Knew’ About the Danger Of Coronavirus

She wants Americans to sue China. The Communist Party is not happy.

Right, but does this more agile federal bureaucracy include things like the Prevention and Public Health Fund, or are you still opposed to that measure?

I am all for the CDC saying, "this is how we can do our job in a more responsive, effective manner." That's the discussion we need to have.

Okay, sure. Yeah, I wanted to go back to the topic of China.

I'm wondering, apart from, you know, liability, and—of course, thank you for bringing up the very important question of Taiwan at the World Health Organization—are there any other areas we would need to push back against China, and any other measures we could take?

I would just say, I think that, as we look at China, one of the things they fear is losing control of the supply chain, and the economic impact of this is going to be indeed be felt by them, because, look at the number of countries who are raising their hand and saying, "we know the supply chain needs to come out of China."

People do not want contaminated drugs. People want to make certain there is clean manufacturing and clean sourcing that is taking place. And people want to make certain that they are trading with someone that is going to be a truthful participant in that trade.

Look at what China did to France. France needed PPE and they said, "if you'll take Huawei as your 5G system, we’ll sell you PPE." Now how about that one!

I think that people have—China is going to realize that people look at them differently. Reviewing their participation in these global organizations is something else that is going to be necessary.

It may not be something that pleases China, but I think for us, and our allies, and our trading partners, they're saying this is a step we need to take.
