The US Navy Needs More Submarines to Match Russia and China
Can America build more than two subs a year? What about the costs? Will SSBN production create problems?
The bottom-line is that if the Navy is to reconstitute its attack submarine fleet to meet the challenge of the resurgent Russian and Chinese fleets, it will have to build more submarines. Ultimately, Congress will have to appropriate more money to ensure that the Navy remains up to the challenge.
